Empowering the Next Generation

Empowering the Next Generation

Macpherson is proud to announce that we will be participating in CIPA’s Energy Academy, providing paid internships to recent high school graduates to gain hands-on work experience in the oil and gas industry. The program chooses four students to live on a college campus and learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills to prepare them for well-paying quality careers.

One of the chosen students is Karen Mancilla, pictured right with Clare Pagnini and Chevelle Doane. Karen is 18 years old and just graduated from Cuyama Valley High School. Karen heard about the CIPA internship program during a school class trip to E&B and she was interested by the opportunity and applied. She is excited to be interning at Macpherson this summer and is looking forward to learning about the industry and gaining work experience. During her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family and friends and going to thrift stores.

In addition to participating in the CIPA internship program, Macpherson is also providing additional internship opportunities for local high school students. This program will help the local students learn the importance of work ethic, responsibility, time management and the soft skills needed to succeed in the job market of the future.
