Q. I recently changed my name. What forms do I need to fill out to change my name in the partnership records?

Q. What documents do you need to transfer ownership of partnership interests?
A. Each of our partnerships have strict rules related to the transfer of partnership interests. Failure to follow the procedures will result in the loss of partnership privileges, including but not limited to the loss of voting rights and the loss of the right to receive partnership information. Prior to making any transfer we urge you to refer to your partnership agreement to insure that you remain in compliance with the agreement.
In the event of a transfer of partnership interest we request that you use the Partnership Transfer form, which must be signed by both the current owner of the interest and the new owner of the interest. Have both signatures acknowledged by a Notary Public. Mail the document along with a completed IRS form W9 to:
100 Wilshire Blvd. Suite 800 Santa Monica, CA 90401
Please remember that partnership distributions are calculated on a calendar quarterly basis and are paid within 30 days of the close of the quarter. For that reason we request that any transfer be made effective with the end of a calendar quarter (March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31).
Because the transfer of a partnership interest is not considered a transfer of real property the document will not be recorded with the County Recorder but will remain with the Partnership records. If you have any questions about the requirements related to the transfer of partnership interests please contact Joseph Scott at jscott@macphersonenergy.com.
