A Technical Report on Macpherson’s Steam Flood Performance

Placement and timing of steam injectors is critical for optimal performance of the steamflood at Macpherson Oil Company’s Round Mountain oilfield in Kern County, CA, a dipping, highly permeable reservoir with a very strong water drive. This paper, presented at SPE’s Western North American Regional Meeting in Bakersfield, discusses the “Steam Injector Relocation” strategy devised to enhance the field’s performance.
